Berry Cream Cheese Danish

Mixed Berry Danish | My Petite Joys

It’s no secret that I love baking with pre-made frozen pastry puffs. You can make the most delicious things with it and its so easy. All you have to do is remember to defrost the pastry puff ahead of time.

A few weekends ago I was craving something sweet and rich, and had the energy to bake so I looked in my fridge and had ingredients on hand for this danish recipe. I just switched out the frozen blue berries for mixed berries.

Berry Cream Cheese Danish Ingredients

  • 1 package of Pepperidge Farm pastry puff sheets (remember to thaw them!)
  • 8oz. cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup berries
  • 1/2 cup blueberry preserves
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F and line your baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. In one bowl combine the cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl combine the frozen berries and blueberry preserves . Set aside.
  4. Roll out your pastry puff and cut into 12 rectangles. If you’re using the Pepperidge Farm version you basically just have to cut the sheet in half and divide into thirds.
  5. With a fork poke the centers of the pastry puff but don’t poke the edges.
  6. Mix together the egg and the water and brush over each rectangle.
  7. Spoon the cream cheese mixture onto the middle of your rectangle. Then spoon you berry mixture over the cream cheese.
  8. Bake the pastries for 15-18 minutes.
  9. Cool before serving.

These were a hit and I shared some with my parents and in laws who were not upset to receive the treat. Next time I would use slightly less of the blueberry preserves because a lot of the sweetness came from that jam. I would even just make these with the plain cream cheese since that would be delicious !

If you’re having people over for breakfast or just looking for a beautiful, but easy treat to try give this Berry Cream Cheese Danish recipe a go. You won’t be disappointed.
