Flower Tea

Has anyone ever heard of flower tea? I got a few blooms and a glass teapot as a gift for my wedding and hadn’t tried it out yet. Over the weekend I gave it a go, and am now a fan. Flower tea is so pretty !

According to my research flower tea is a bundle of dried leaves wrapped around a dried flower. Once hot water is added, the hidden flower blooms and opens to reveal the blossom inside. Common flowers used for flower teas include hibiscus, lilies, jasmine, and chrysanthemums. Flower teas are typically handmade and thought to be Chinese in origin, though no one really knows.

The brand I was gifted was Tea Beyond – I tried the Happy Marigold bloom, which is described as having a “sunny hue” with “mild notes of chamomile like tastes” and a “lyric picture” Even after trying it, I’m still not sure what a “lyric picture” is supposed to taste like , but found the tea to be quite refreshing. The flavor tasted like a flowery jasmine instead of chamomile, but I’m don’t have a very refined pallet so I might be misjudging.

Check out the pictures below for how pretty this flower tea is:
