Our Nursery Reveal

Nursery | My Petite Joys

Our baby boy William is now here and we’re settling into life with baby. We’re taking the next few weeks to quietly nest away, get to know one another, and settle into our new life. While we do this here is a peek into our nursery. The calm, neutral space that Ted and I created for our baby!

The nursery used to be Ted’s office space and was once full of bookshelves, my craft cabinet, an often messy desk, Ted’s closet, and dominated by a dark red accent wall. You’d never know it by looking at it now!

I shared some of our inspiration earlier, and by now everyone knows that for the nursery I wanted to go with whites, neutrals, natural textures, and small pops of color. I tend to find baby things extremely busy and overwhelming and just wanted to keep things simple. More for my own sanity than anyone else’s really.

We also have small bits and pieces of Peter Rabbit themed decor because I think its just perfect for a little boy, was the theme for our shower, and just generally love the whimsical world of Beatrix Potter.

Some Advice

Start your nursery earlier than you think. We started getting the nursery slowly ready at the beginning of April (so around the middle of my second trimester). We had to first move all the furniture out and figure out where to put it in the rest of the condo. Let me just say our storage closets our completely full!

We’d work a weekend here and a weekend there and I purchased at least one bigger ticket item a month to keep things budget friendly. Had we done all of this in the last few months of pregnancy I think it would have been financially stressful and also much harder for me as I had a hard time moving around in the third trimester.
