My Urban Garden

I’ve grown up in a family that loves to garden, but even though I don’t have my own patch of earth I still indulge my green thumb each year with my  little urban garden.  I might have jumped the gun this year, but this weekend I sprinted to my local home depot and spent too much money on plants and soil (mother nature please don’t let it get below 40 degrees anymore!) !

This year’s urban garden includes :
Flowers
  • Yellow and purple Superbells – I love the name of these plants
  • White begonias –  white flowers are my favorite
  • Vinca – last year these grew into long jungle like vines that covered my entire balcony rail. I loved the effect and bought them again
  • Lavender – lavender loves sun, which my space doesn’t get too much of, but I’m taking a gamble on these because I really want to be able to grow fresh lavender!
  • Boston ferns – I’ve had these plants for three years. I keep them inside in the winter months and then take them outside when it gets warm and they thrive!

Herbs & Veggies
  • Rosemary
  • Chive
  • Basil
  • Peppermint
  • Sweet Mint
  • Tomatoes

I also stopped by IKEA and bought a piece of outdoor furniture that I’ve been eyeing for the last two years. I’m obsessed with this Applaro bench/wall panal piece. The bench opens and lets me store my extra soil and plant pots, while the wall panel comes with cute hooks for hanging tools I use on a more regular basis. Plus its from IKEA so its not too expensive!

Happy Spring next gardening to you all !
