My Snail Mail Baby Shower

Peter Rabbit Baby Shower | My Petite Joys

Last Saturday was supposed to be my baby shower, but due to Covid we decided to cancel since social distancing is still the safest option we have right now. This week I’m sharing how we handled my baby shower in the era of social distancing and also celebrating my mother’s hard work, her beautiful vision, and to say thank you for all the love she put into this event!

When we decided to cancel my shower, I admit I was a little bummed about it, but I felt even worse for my mom who had been planning my baby shower for months prior and had practically everything ready ! My mom is such a planner and is quite good at the event planning process. She had the invitations, the party favors, and decor ready to go. We were going with Beatrix’s Potter’s Peter Rabbit theme and everything was just so cute!

The Decor

I grabbed a bunch of the goodies that my mom acquired and set up a mini shower scene to showcase how our special day would have looked. When all this is over my mama may have a career as a party planner. She did such an amazing job and I thank her for all the time and love she put into this.

We were going to do a brunch at a local restaurant and my mom went all out on Etsy gathering cute garden and rabbit inspired decor. My amazing friend Kayla, owner of Floured By Block, was also going to bake Peter Rabbit themed cookies for us too!

We Mailed Our Favors

Something clever that my mom thought of soon after we decided it was best to cancel the shower was that she still wanted to send out the party favors. She gathered some lotions, lettuce seeds, and jelly beans that were all Beatrix Potter themed and sent them out via mail. This way guests could get a little something nice and celebrate our baby. She made an assembly line, filled up boxes from the post office, and wrote a letter explaining our decision to cancel. My mother and father in law helped delivery boxes to our local guests, and I know the deliveries put a smile on everyone’s faces.

All in all, in the end what matters is that we have a healthy baby and that our loved ones are safe. To make use of the extra decor I’ve already decided that the theme for his first birthday will be Peter Rabbit so nothing goes to waste! Hopefully things will be much better by then.

Thank you to my beautiful mother for putting all this together. Even though we didn’t get to celebrate in person her love shines through!
