My 100th Post & Blogging Tips

Blogging Lessons Learned | www.mypetitejoys.com

The other week as I was getting a few blog posts ready, I noticed that I was approaching 100 blog posts. Yes one hundred ! WHAT !?

I started this blog in 2016 wanting to have a creative outlet and take on a new project. Now, a little over two years later, I can’t believe that I’ve stuck with blogging every this long.  So far I’ve written over 50,000 words and shared over 100 pages of content with the world. Eek!

I didn’t expect to love blogging or keep up with it. Blogging has helped me learn and try out so many new things over the last two years. From traveling, cooking, photography, creative projects, to getting to know fabulous people across the globe, it’s really helped me explore the world more. And, honestly it just makes me happy.

So in honor of this milestone, I’m sharing a little bit of what I’ve learned so far and some fun facts about the blog.

What I’ve Learned
Just Do It

If you’re interested in starting a blog or any project that you feel unsure about just jump and do it. I felt the exact same way when I started this blog (scared, anxious, hesitant), and now its something that I’m proud of and love doing. Don’t wait around for the perfect time or situation (there’s never gonna be one) and instead just dive in.

You’ll Figure it Out

I will admit that I came into blogging with some HTML and CSS skills, but that’s it. I understood how websites worked “under the hood” but by no means am I proficient (I’m still not, and don’t plan to be). Outside of basic web design, I didn’t know anything about hosting my own site, plugins, SEO, and you know what — I’m still figuring it out. But I have to say never underestimate what you can figure with a little help from Google and tutorials. You will amaze yourself.

You Don’t Need A Fancy Camera…At First

All of my early photos and some now are done with my iPhone. Yup. No joke. If you have proper lighting and understand photo editing basics, you can take some nice photos! I now have a better camera that I use for blog posts and photo work, but don’t think you need fancy or expensive equipment to get started.

You Have To Reach Out To People

Don’t expect the world to flock to your site the minute you publish a post. In reality its going to stay pretty quite for a while 🙂 But don’t worry! You have to share your beautiful content on social media, build a community of readers, and reach out to people to grow your audience.

Send an email to another blogger, brand, or small business and you never know what doors it can open. To my shock I’ve gotten to do some photo work with a local store and even collaborated with a fabulous jewelry designer and local artist. By reaching out I’ve helped grow my little corner of the Internet and more importantly, I’ve brought some inspiring, creative ladies into my life.

If you have any blog questions or want to know some specific tools and resources that have helped me I’m happy to share. Just let me know and send me a message !
