My Living Room Tour

Living Room

In continuation of my “home tour” series this week we’re headed to the living room! I’m all about natural light, calm neutrals and pieces with a vintage, but classic feeling and hope the pictures below evoke this.

The first thing you’ll notice when coming into our house is our entertainment center. I love it because it gives the feel of built ins and helps us fill up a massive wall that would be otherwise difficult to style. Plus the storage is incredible. It’s the Liatorp TV storage combination from IKEA. We got this piece right when we came back from our Puerto Rico honeymoon. We were so excited to buy, we literally got off the plane and drove to IKEA, used our wedding funds to purchase it, and set it up that night.

Another one of my favorite pieces is our Pottery Barn brown leather chair. We bought the floor sample at the store and only paid around $400 for it. The full price is around $1599 so that was a steal for us.

Pro tip: if you can swing it and the piece isn’t in bad shape, buy the floor sample. Pottery Barn usually gets rid of their floor samples in the Fall and Spring as they change out their store decor seasonally. You can snag some really good deals for a fraction of the price.

The rest of the living room is filled with a mix of mementos from our travels and gifts from family and friends. A few items are from some of my favorite stores like Marshalls, Target, or a local botique called Gathered Boutique & Workshop. I love shopping for home goods! I want to add even more plants to the living room this year because I love the pop of vibrant green color they add to our space.

My Living Room Design Advice

  1. Stick to neutrals, they will always be in style and you can add pops of color or add trends by buying pillows, throws, and other accent items.
  2. Fill your home with things that have meaning. Most of the items in my home have a story around them or a memory that I love to share. Your home is not just your haven but a reflection of you and your story !
  3. Keep things minimal and avoid clutter. Group small items in baskets or on trays. It makes things look more elegant and is also easier to keep clean!
