What’s On My Vanity

My Vanity | www.mypetitejoys.com

I received a lot of feedback on my bedroom tour, and a few persons asked for a closer view of my vanity. Since I’ve had this vanity since middle school and it’s a sentimental piece that I updated with gel stain and chalk paint a few years ago. I wrote a post on how I transformed this vanity so if you’re interested head on over there. But for this post we’re going to focus on the goodies on top.

Growing up I remember being fascinated by my mom’s vanity. I’d look through the jars of makeup, pull open the drawers filled with sparkly jewelry, and spray her different perfumes. To a little girl there’s nothing more feminine and nothing so pretty as a vanity. Now that I think about it, the way I decorate my own is similar to my mom’s set up.

The Makeup

I’m very minimal with my makeup. I don’t like to buy a lot since I usually can’t use everything up before it expires. I keep the items I don’t use everyday in the drawer underneath (eye shadows, lipsticks, etc.) The everyday makeup I keep on the cute little mirror tray that I picked up at Gathered last year. It’s so well made and makes the perfect backdrop for photos! My favorite beauty brands at the moment are RMS, Glossier, and Bobbi Brown. The Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara is my drug story holy grail!

The Perfumes

I only own four perfumes and have been wearing these scents for years. I love how pretty perfume bottles are so they’re perfect to keep on display for some extra sparkle in the morning.

The Jewelry

I have so much jewelry that I don’t even wear, so most of my collection is tucked away in a jewelry box I keep in my bedroom. But the earrings and rings that I wear on a regular basis are in a small painted dish I picked up from Door County. I wear my Skagen watch and gold Mother Mary necklace everyday so those are laid on top ready to go in the morning.
