My Favorite Wedding Photos

October 31 is my wedding anniversary (yes I got married on Halloween!) and I love looking back on photos from that day and reminiscing. For our photos, we went with Erin Hoyt Photography for the big day and it was one of the best “wedding” decisions I made. I remember getting the link to see our photos and grinning like a goose when I saw the final result.

On our three year wedding anniversary I’m still in love with our wedding photos and wanted to share some of my favorites. Funny enough a lot of my favorites are the black and white ones – so apologies for the lack of color in this post !

Getting Ready

When I look through people’s wedding photos my favorites are always those “getting ready” shots. You can feel the excitement of the day and see the nervous, but giddy looks of glee on people’s faces. Plus, its the beginning of the day so everyone looks fresh and is at their best!

My makeup was done by Meghan Selleck Makeup.  We met thorough an old coworker and she is utterly fabulous.  I adore this silhouette shot we have together – so dramatic!

I remember thinking “what is my photographer doing?” when I saw her taking this picture. She used one of the mirrors on my vanity to catch my reflection and then took a picture of me through the mirror. I think its one of the most creative shots from the whole day.

While I was getting ready it was pouring outside.  I remember thinking “omg how am I going to get to the car and stay dry” when this photo was taken. You can see the nervous excitement I felt just before  leaving the safety of my bedroom and going out into the world as a bride for the first time !

Candids

The best wedding photos are those “moment” photos. You know what I mean. The ones that capture the scenes where you thought no one was looking – unless you have a fabulous photographer like I did!  Candids for me are the most precious photos because they they capture the genuine, emotional scenes of a wedding day.

I love this shot of my cousin and me. In the chaos of getting ready you can see the love she’s giving me !

The “dad’s”  were in charge of getting me to the church on that rainy day. You can’t see him in these pics, but Ted’s dad was my chauffeur and loaned us his vintage ’32 Ford. He built it himself and helped me feel like an old Hollywood movie star for the day.

My own dad was my personal umbrella man and was on a mission to keep me dry before I entered the church. He did such a good job since I got the church with hardly a drop of water on me.

If you’ve read my blog for a while, you’ll know I am super close with my grandmother. This photo says it all. I don’t really have a “first look” with Ted, but I have one with my Babcia and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I always tell soon to be brides that your wedding day is the one day you where you know what its like to be “famous.” Everyone wants to see you and get their picture taken with you. The photo below reminds me of a “paparrizi” shot but in reality Ted and I were happy to get out of the church since we get nervous with all eyes on us.

Weddings are as much about a family as they are the couple – so I love all my family shots.  In each of these pics I’m surrounded by my parents and grandparents – you can feel the love!

Working on this post, I noticed that in almost all of our photos Ted has his arm around me in some way. I never noticed it until now but now do you see why I love the candids?

This candid is about my sisters. One has just caught the bouquet (to her delight)  and the other is actually airborne (I never knew she was capable of such athleticism 🙂 ha! ) Fun fact: wedding tradition says that whoever catches the bouquet gets married next and in this case it’s true because she’s engaged!

The Portraits

I love the hashtag “#makeportraits” and these are my favorite frame worthy photos from the day.

This is my “omg I’m wearing the dress of my dreams I feel so pretty” picture. Every girl needs that picture. This is mine haha.

We got married at the Wilder Mansion and as much as Ted and myself needed our own portraits – this mansion needed a photo shoot of its own. It was just so gorgeous and romantic.

I love the fall colors in the bottom right photo – can this be any more Fall? (yes I am making a Friends reference). Overall the rain wasn’t too bad and gave us gorgeous lighting for our outdoor photos. I’m so glad I didn’t have to squint with the sun in my eyes!

I’m obsessed with the pleats in my wedding dress here. My lace jacket was the star of my dress, but this photo shows just how beautiful the ballgown part of the dress was.

This is my no. 1 favorite photo of the day. The light, the leaves, and the kiss. This photo is it.
