Fall Weekend Recap

This weekend I checked off one of my my fall bucket list items and went apple picking! It was so much fun so I’m sharing a few pics from the day.

Saturday

Later in the afternoon we had an Oktoberfest Party to attend in Woodstock, IL so we picked the All Seasons Orchard for our apple picking adventure. The weather for the day was my favorite: slightly cloudy, cool, and crisp. I would recommend getting to All Seasons early (we left around 10 am ) because this place got crowded fast. I was shocked at how many people were visiting but I guess you can’t blame everyone for wanting to enjoy the beautiful weekend with a fun fall activity. What’s nice about All Seasons is there’s a section with a pumpkin patch and barnyard that’s more geared towards families with small children so the orchard’s aren’t as crowded once you get out to the fields.

The orchard has a cute gift shop where you can pick up apple flavored anything  and I had my first ever apple cider slushy. It was glorious and my new favorite drink. So yummy!

After apple picking we drove to Woodstock’s downtown to briefly explore and to my surprise, its super cute ! It has an actual town square surrounded by small boutique shops and old fashioned cobble stone streets. Ted and I will try to come here for a quick day trip during the holidays since I saw some shops that I could find some unique Christmas gifts in. We spent the rest of the day at an Oktoberfest party with good friends eating pretzels, sauerkraut, and brats.

Sunday

On Sunday we ran errands, I cleaned, did some research for our upcoming trip to New York city, and baked.  I had more apples than I knew what to do with so made apple tarts. It also gave me an excuse to try out some new baking tins that I recently ordered from Amazon (if you’re interested I’ve linked them here, here, and here).  So I bought three packages of pre-made pie crust, sliced up some apples, and voila — delicious apple tarts for family and friends. I’ll share the recipe in a few week’s time since it came out delicious. Ted said it’s one of the best desserts I’ve made yet. Overall it was a perfect Fall weekend — the perfect balance between being active and indulging in some weekend relaxation.
